Altus Engineering is seeking Laboratory Managers to work in support of the Army Oil Analysis Program (AOAP) based in Redstone Arsenal near Huntsville, AL The Laboratory Managers have overall responsibility for the contractor in operation of oil analysis laboratory locations at Forts Bragg, Hood, and Lewis and Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, in support of the AOAP.
The US Army Oil Analysis Program (AOAP) is one of the most extensive, detailed, and impactful lubricant analysis programs worldwide. AOAP is a maintenance diagnostic program that monitors lubricant condition and detects impending component failures, allowing Army units to identify faults and perform maintenance before more severe/catastrophic damage to components occurs. AOAP contractor operated laboratories are located throughout the world with three CONUS (Continental United States) and two OCONUS regional locations. The contractor, Altus, LLC, is a globally recognized leader in engineering and technical services, having worked with the Army and other federal organizations since its founding in 2004.
Duties:
- The Laboratory Manager shall be responsible for all aspects of laboratory including (in cooperation with the Assistant Laboratory Manager) monitoring, training, and assisting technicians, and supporting overall effective and efficient laboratory operation including support for equipment maintenance and repair, data recording and reporting.
- Results reporting, ensuring quality and safety standards are met and acting as an alternate evaluator of oil analysis data on an as required basis when the condition modeling analysts are unable to provide results to the customer in a timely fashion. When acting as alternate evaluators, the Laboratory Manager shall issue maintenance recommendations for aeronautical and non-aeronautical diesel engines, aeronautical and non-aeronautical turbine engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulics, and ancillary components/equipment of associated weapon systems.
Qualifications: The Laboratory Manager shall comply with the following requirements:
- Education Requirements: The Laboratory Manager shall possess at least two years post-secondary education or on-the-job training in one or more of the following fields: oil analysis, analytical chemistry, lubrication, reliability engineering or condition monitoring (mechanical machinery). Possession of an associate degree is preferred. Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet the education requirement
- Certification Requirements: It is the customer’s desire that new personnel hired to serve as a Laboratory Manager possess Laboratory Lubricant Analyst (LLA) Level II certification at time of hire and that the Laboratory Manager maintain LLA II certification for the life of the contract. Note: Applicants should identify any related training received or related experience. Training will be provided, as needed, to new hires.
- Evaluation Experience: The Laboratory Manager shall possess a minimum of one (1) year experience evaluating oil analysis data and issuing maintenance recommendations.
- Maintenance Experience: The customer prefers laboratory managers to possess experience performing operator-level maintenance and minor repairs of laboratory analytical instruments.
- Security Clearance: The Laboratory Manager shall be able to attain Secret Security Clearance.
- Language Requirements: The Laboratory Manager shall fluently read, write, and speak English.
